Match.com pulled from its Singles in America survey. The study, which surveyed a representative sample of over 5,000 single women and men from across the US, revealed the following top-line findings about how a person’s ethnic background is a variable in singles’ dating preferences and attitudes:

More African American men than any other group emphasize the importance of women having their own life and a sense of independence.
When it comes to desirable personality traits of a potential match, Asian American men are most turned on by a woman with great social skills (69%) and a close-knit family (44%)
36% of African American men prefer the natural look and would find it a turn-on if their date didn?t wear makeup.
Hispanic (74%) and Asian (72%) men would be comfortable if their partner proposed marriage to them.
A majority of African American (54%) and Hispanic (57%) men would prefer to date a career-driven woman and would find it a turn off if a potential match did not care about their career.
African American women are most likely to date someone significantly older, with 29% saying they?ve had a committed relationship with someone 10 years or older.

Match.com’s second annual Single In America Study was funded by Match.com and conducted by MarketTools in association with biological anthropologist Dr. Helen Fisher, Chief Scientific Advisor for Match.com; sex and relationship therapist, Dr. Laura Berman; evolutionary biologist with The Kinsey Institute at Indiana University, Dr. Justin R. Garcia; and the Institute for Evolutionary Studies (EvoS) at Binghamton University. The results, which include the views of a representative sample of over 5,000 US singles, gives a specific look at the relationships between Sex and Politics, Gender Roles and Romantic Expectations and is the largest and most comprehensive national study of American singles ever to be conducted.
