Match.com pulled from its Singles in America survey. The study, which surveyed a representative sample of over 5,000 single women and men from across the US, revealed the following top-line findings about how a person’s ethnic background is a variable in singles’ dating preferences and attitudes:
- More African American men than any other group emphasize the importance of women having their own life and a sense of independence.
- When it comes to desirable personality traits of a potential match, Asian American men are most turned on by a woman with great social skills (69%) and a close-knit family (44%)
- 36% of African American men prefer the natural look and would find it a turn-on if their date didn?t wear makeup.
- Hispanic (74%) and Asian (72%) men would be comfortable if their partner proposed marriage to them.
- A majority of African American (54%) and Hispanic (57%) men would prefer to date a career-driven woman and would find it a turn off if a potential match did not care about their career.
- African American women are most likely to date someone significantly older, with 29% saying they?ve had a committed relationship with someone 10 years or older.
- Love at first sight: Over half of all respondents from all ethnic backgrounds believe in it!
