Williams blasts Tiger Woods with racist slur
With Tiger Woods’ ex-bagman Steve Williams blasting his former boss with a racist slur, one has to wonder if perhaps there was more to Woods’ firing of Williams than perceived disloyalty.
“My aim was to shove it right up that black ar*****e,” Williams, for the time being in the employ of Adam Scott, said Friday night during the annual caddies’ award dinner at the HSBC Champions event in Shanghai, according to several news reports. The New Zealander with a reputation as a thug while on Woods’ bag, was describing his glee about Scott’s Bridgestone Invitational victory in August.
Williams stole the thunder from Scott following the Bridgestone event with his self-aggrandizing media appearances, calling the tourney in which Woods finished a distant T37, “the greatest week of my life.” Such braggadocio was in bad taste then but seems downright laughable compared with Williams’ contemptible comments during the caddies’ ceremony, where he cadged the cheeky award for “celebration of the year.”
Following the Bridgestone media frenzy, Williams tried to backtrack on his emotional tirade, saying “The Tiger thing is over.” Apparently far from it, if his most recent eruption is any indication of the ill will he clearly still harbors.
Williams’ most recent outburst (not exactly shy with his opinions, he once called Phil Mickelson a “p**ck) shocked participants — golfers, loopers, and sponsors — who had gathered to name the “caddie of the year,” according to The Telegraph. It may well be his last as a caddie on the PGA Tour, since Scott, who hired Williams after Woods fired him in July and is in the field this week, heard first hand his looper’s despicable racist rant.
Wow! Can you say angry, bitter, racist, disloyal jerk? I knew Tiger had reasons to give him the boot! He should be fired again!
