Girls? Generation (SNSD) will be helping to promote Korean culture abroad.
Korea marketing expert and Sungshin Women’s University professor Seo Kyeong Duk enlisted the help of SNSD to help promote Korean culture to English language speakers through information pamphlets.
The information pamphlets will introduce, in English, five of Korea’s most representative cultural contents, including Hangeul (the Korean language), hanshik (Korean food), hanbok (Korean traditional clothing), hanji (traditional Korean handmade paper) and hanok (traditional Korean-style houses).
On the reasons for creating the information pamphlets, Seo Kyeong Duk said, “While K-Pop is spreading all over the world, I felt something was needed to also introduce and promote our culture. So I decided to help create these information pamphlets that can be used in all parts of the world.”

He added, “As representatives of Korean culture, by having SNSD appear in the information pamphlets, we hope they won’t become pamphlets one will look at and throw away but like a bromide photograph, will be kept by youth all over the world. The pamphlets are also created with environmentally friendly material.”
On SNSD’s casting for the pamphlets, SM Entertainment shared, “By appearing in the Korean culture informational brochures, we plan to further help shed light and inform others about Korea’s culture.”
Some 50,000 of the SNSD informational brochures will be distributed beginning next week at the Yeosu Expo. Another 30,000 will be distributed at the London Olympics and 20,000 will be distributed in various famous universities around the world.
Professor Seo Keyong Duk previously created the Korean informational brochures found at famous places such as the New York Metropolitan Art Museum, New York’s Museum of Modern Art and other famous institutions.
