The Vietnamese government has pledged 5-thousand tons of rice to assist North

The Vietnamese government has pledged 5-thousand tons of rice to assist North Korea which has recently been hit by a typhoon and torrential rain.

Radio Free Asia says the pledge was made by Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang to North Korea’s ceremonial leader Kim Yong-nam in Hanoi this week.

Vietnam’s aid package would be the first by a foreign country since the recent flooding in the North.

According to Pyongyang’s state-run media the disaster killed nearly 1-hundred-70 people and left over 200-thousand others homeless.

The United Nations’ World Food Program, last week, promised more than 3-hundred tons of grain to the North as emergency relief.

These poor people can’t catch a break!
