Can you spot Liu Bolin at Art Asia
Contemporary Chinese artist Liu Bolin takes the concept of a wallflower to a whole different dimension. While finding Waldo in a crowd was our first childhood entry the hide and seek game of spotting the subject, Liu Bolin paints himself to blend in with his scenery regardless of its significance whether its the backdrop of a well recognized historical monument or a grocery aisle at the 99 cent store or a mound of coal. His series, “Hidden” was shot in various cities around the world where he became one with the environment only to be seen as a mere outline of a human form. As a headliner to the Art Asia fair, which has grown exponentially since its launch 4 years ago at the satellite Scope Art fair, Bolin has been one of the first contemporary Asian artists to make headway into the global art scene. This year Art Asia broadened its scope of Asian contemporary art and showcased established and emerging artists from the Near East, Middle East, Southeast Asia as well as China, Japan, and Korea.
Liu Bolin is shown at the Eli Klein Gallery in NY.
