HBO Reaches out to Asian Am Kids for new documentary

In the same vein as East of Main Street, HBO is seeking Asian Americans for another documentary for Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. But this time, instead of focusing on adults, the new documentary will feature Asian American kids aged 4-10 to give an ‘uncensored view of life’.

The project is hoping to speak to a cross section of Asian American kids about “everything from their heritage, what being Asian American means, how their grandparents differ, what sets them apart from other kids in their schools, religion, their foods, customs and what their hopes and dreams for the future are”.

HBO will take to the road at the end of February this year, hitting three cities for interviews.

The company is reaching out to any parent who is interested in participating in the program. Interested parents should upload a short sample clip of your child to a YouTube or Vimeo link and send it to asianheritage2012@gmail.com with a description of your family’s background as well as the name of the city and state which you currently live.

Deadline for submissions is January 31.
