Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s publicist on Monday slammed reports about her client buying a Dh36 million property in Dubai as a gift to her 15-month-old daughter Aaradhya, calling it “false and untrue”.

“Where is all this coming from? [It’s] ridiculous,” said her publicist in a message to tabloid!. She clarified that both mother and daughter were in Mumbai and not in Dubai as widely speculated. Since Monday morning, reports that Rai Bachchan and her daughter were currently in Dubai to snap up a grand mansion have been doing the rounds.

“Ok, even if someone heard they were in Dubai, where did purchasing a house come from?,” she added.

Rai Bachchan’s husband Abhishek later tweeted: “My dearest media. Last night at the event [Ritu Bedi’s fashion show] I said Aishwariya and Aaradhya were in MUMbai NOT DUbai. Thanks.”

It’s not the first time that rumours around Aaradhya and lavish gifts take up print space. In November last year, it was widely reported in Indian dailies that the toddler was given a BMW Mini Cooper as her first birthday gift. A few weeks later, her grandfather Amitabh Bachchan took to his facebook page to clear the air. He stated that the car was a gift intended for him and not his granddaughter.
