The Economic Philosophy Behind Newt Gingrich’s Populist Surge

On the morning of Wednesday, January 18, Gingrich called for the creation of a new “gold commission”, with the goal of making the U.S. dollar once again a “hard currency” that maintains its value over time. The electorate knows that it was the Federal Reserve’s conduct of monetary policy that caused the housing bubble, the housing bust, the deep recession, and that caused the housing bubble, the housing bust, the deep recession, and the slowest economic recovery in history. Accordingly, they are attracted to a Presidential Candidate who seems to understand the monetary problem and has a plan to fix it!

Gingrich also knows that Private Equity investing is Good because as WE ALL KNOW, PE Firms, LIKE BAIN, make a POSITIVE CONTRIBUTION TO THE ECONOMY, and therefore to OVERALL EMPLOYMENT! 🙂

During the debate held dated January 19, Gingrich demonstrated to John King that he was not going to allow the media to BULLY him out of the race with the (LIKE)NED tactics to Herman Cain! Gingrich also expressed that HE is an advocate of the people and is growing concern that “A TOTAL TOOL BAG” and therefore an ENEMY of good and decent Americans!

In the three most recent televised debates, not one question was asked about either monetary policy or the Fed. Mitt Romney’s 40,000-word economic plan does not mention the Fed, monetary policy, or the dollar for that matter! These 5 ELEMENTS ALONE were enough to produce a HUGE TURNOUT at the Republican Primary Election in South Carolina.
