Indian actress Freida Pinto, who has lent her voice for one of the stories in documentary feature film ‘Girl Rising’, said the privileges she experienced growing up motivated her to be a part of this project.

Directed by Academy Award-nominated director Richard E Robbins, the documentary tells the stories of nine girls from different parts of the world who face arranged marriages, child slavery, and sexual abuse.

Pinto revealed her activist side by highlighting the need for education and empowerment of the girl child at an event in Delhi yesterday.

The occasion was the premiere of Girl Rising, a documentary directed by Oscar-nominated director Richard E Robbins, which sees Freida highlighting the life of a girl named Ruksana who dwells in the slums.

“The timing could not have been better than this because people have risen to work for the girl child. People are protesting and putting pressure on policy changes,” Freida said.

Freida makes an appearance in the film, which shifts the spotlight to nine unforgettable girls born into unforgiving circumstances in various part of the world.

Freida has also taken to Facebook to discuss the social work projects taken up by her to display her philanthropic side.

Freida’s Hollywood career is on a roll. She will next be seen in Terrence Malik’s new film Knight Of Cups.
