Nathan Adrian won the men’s 50-meter free at the U.S. national swimming

Nathan Adrian won the men’s 50-meter free at the U.S. national swimming championships with a WORLD RECORD time (21.47 seconds) today, beating out a field that included four other Olympians. Adrian won the 100 free in the beginning of the week with a 48.10 seconds time. He’s been faster this year with a fourth-ranked season-best of 48.08 from the Santa Clara stop of the Arena Grand Prix, and likely has plenty to come heading into Barcelona.

Twelve time Olympic medalist, Natalie Coughlin, continued her sprint freestyle career resurgence with a victory in the women’s splash-and-dash this evening at the U.S. Nationals and World Championships.

Coughlin turned up a sweltering time of 24.97 to win the women’s 50-meter freestyle tonight as the 30-year-old just missed her ninth-ranked season best of 24.90.
