A drama series from Israel won the grand prize while Hollywood actress Lucy Liu won as best actress in the Seoul International Drama Awards 2013 held on Sept. 6 at the National Theater of Korea.

“Prisoners of War 2,” which became the top rated drama in Israel, bagged the top prize selected among all the nominees for TV movie, mini-series, serial and series categories.

In the TV movie category, the Golden Bird Prize went to “The Jewish Cardinal” from France while the Silver Bird Prize was awarded to “Welcome and…Our Condolences” from Israel.

Special Prizes were awarded to “Hello, New York” from Kyrgyzstan and “The Perfect Day” from South Korea.

“Mistresses,” which starred Alyssa Milano, Rochelle Aytes and Kim Yun-jin, won the Most Popular Foreign Drama of the Year in South Korea.

Kim Yun-jin, who also starred in the popular series “Lost,” accepted the award.

In the individual awards, Lucy Liu won as best actress for crime drama series “Elementary” while Lee Moon Shik took home the best actor award for “Sang-gwon.” Liu did not attend the ceremony.

In the Outstanding Korean Drama Prize category, MBC’s “Arang and the Magistrate” won the Excellent Korean Drama while SBS’ “Yawang,” also known as “King of Ambition,” bagged the Outstanding Korean Drama award.

Lee Jun-ki won as best actor for “Arang and the Magistrate” while Suzy of miss A won as best actress for “Gu Family Book.”

Kim Jaejoong of JYJ took home the Outstanding Korean drama OST for the song “Living Like A Dream,” which was used in the drama “Dr. Jin.”

For the People’s Choice awards, the winners are Ren Kiriyama for Japan, Nicky Wu for China, Ya Chi Hsu for Taiwan and Yunho for South Korea.

A total of 225 dramas from 48 countries including 13 from the Philippines were submitted for this year’s competition.
