Mirai Nagasu remains “confused” at U.S. Figure Skating’s decision to snub her
Mirai Nagasu remains “confused” at U.S. Figure Skating’s decision to snub her for the Sochi team, but said it won’t end her Olympic dreams.
In a Facebook post early Thursday, Nagasu said she was still trying to process the decision to leave her off the Sochi team despite her third-place finish at the U.S. Championships. Ashley Wagner, who finished fourth, was selected instead based on her international results the past two years.
Not being selected to this year’s team was devastating and I remain confused by U.S. Figure Skating’s decision to not select me to the 2014 Olympic or world teams,” Nagasu wrote. “Once I have time to fully process the impact of these decisions, I do know it will renew a fire inside of me. My Olympic journey does not end here.”
Nagasu also wished Wagner, Gracie Gold and Polina Edmunds luck in Sochi, saying representing your country at the Olympics is one if the best experiences an athlete can have.
Shameful!!!
