[News] Nathan Adrian Swims 18.82 in Prelim Swim, Sits Out Due to Jammed Finger in Finals

Nathan Adrian swam in an 18.82 second preliminary swim in the 50 yard free earlier this morning at the 2012 AT&T Winter National Championships. The time was apparently good enough to break the four year old meet record of 18.95. Nathan also holds the American record of 18.66 from the 2011 NCAA Division I Championships, which puts him third all time in the event behind Cesar Cielo (18.47) and Matt Targett (18.52).

Unfortunately, Nathan had a short meet due to jamming his pinkie on a laneline during warmdown and is out from the finals earlier tonight. Nathan told Jeff Commings from Swimming World that it was a good but short meet. Hopefully Nathan recovers quick before his next swim meet.

Since Nathan was out of the race, Olympian Matt Grevers swam the 50 yard free with 18.88, and Nathan tweeted that he was proud of him for making it under 19 seconds. The bromance between them stays strong.
