Hollywood film studio DreamWorks Animation is pushing into Mainland China, breaking ground

Hollywood film studio DreamWorks Animation is pushing into Mainland China, breaking ground on a $2.4B entertainment and movie studio complex in Shanghai. Oriental DreamWorks already has 150 animators in Shanghai working on their first films, and it plans to have 400 animators there by the end of next year.

The 40-acre Dream Center — backed by Disney, which is opening Shanghai Disneyland next year — will feature a 500-seat IMAX theater in addition to the animation production company, Oriental DreamWorks.

“Kung Fu Panda 3” is already slated.
