False Eyelashes for Asian Eyes
Unfortunately, I’m not one of those rare, Asian women who was born with large, doe-eyes and long, lush lashes. I was given small, hooded eyes and stick-straight lashes that are mere millimeters in length. I’m too chicken to go under the knife and too poor to afford regular eyelash extensions. There’s always Photoshop, but that’s not really going to help me in real life. (I wish!) Lol.
Thus, I’m left with no choice but to do the best with what I’ve got, using cosmetics and accessories as enhancements. One of my favorite ways to make my eyes stand out is false eyelashes! Falsies are a standard in our culture as most Asian women are in the same boat as me. You can pay big bucks for high-end lashes or pennies per pair for a multi-pack at the Asian dollar store.
My current favorite is style #122 by Ardell. While I adore long, sweeping lashes, unless I’m going for an ultra-glam, exaggerated look, they just don’t look believable on me. Enter #122. They’re shorter in length, less dense, and are knotted and shaped in away that looks slightly ragged and haphazard like natural lashes. I don’t even have to trim them, they fit perfectly along my upper lash line. They’re made from real, human hair and are so light I often forget I’m wearing them. Ardell lashes tend to be reasonably priced, about $4-$5 a pair at your local drugstore and can last for weeks if cleaned and stored properly.
Sure, they’re never going to look 100% like the real thing, but they’re as close as I’m going to get. The end result is very similar to naturally long Asian eyelashes enhanced with lengthening mascara. You do have the option of sweeping mascara on after application to blend them in with your own lashes for an even more believable effect.
I’ve included before and after images so that you can see how #122 can give you that extra bit of oomph and glam without being over-the-top. Hope you all find this useful! 🙂
Lol, very kind of you to say. 🙂
If you wore that hot blue dress you posted the other day, nobody will notice your eyes! Ha ha just joking. But your red eyewear will draw attraction to those beautiful doe like eyes, even if you don’t so.
