Blanc de chine fall/winter 2013

Blanc de Chine released the new fall/winter 2013 collection today. As the first international Chinese luxury brand, the designer kept the traditional Chinese style while adding a new idea called “Dunhuang”.

Located in China’s northwestern Gansu province, Dunhuang is an oasis in the Goci desert along the famous Silk Road. The designer was inspired by the most renowned feature of Dunhuang—Caves of the Thousand Buhhas.

The women’s wear features the flying Apsaras—the female spirit of the clouds and waters and the symbol of Dunhuang murals. The light texture and vivid embellishment on the dress resemble the dresses of Apsaras.

The men’s wear features the smooth waterfall collar, inspired by the robes in the Tang Dynasty. Most of the men’s wear is suits, which looked like the 1950s suit style in Shanghai. The shirt and collar are much simpler than today’s designs.
