Bollydoll’s Amrita Sen
The gorgeous Amrita Sen is one of those gifted artists who happens to be good at everything. Amrita is best known as a singer of the Academy Award winning “Jai Ho” from Slumdog Millionaire, and has written and performed many motion picture soundtracks and commercials with her beautiful Bollywood vocals. But she is also a talented visual artist who recently had a live art exhibition at Art Basel. When she’s not telling stories in song, she creates a mystical kingdom with dancing dolls, smiling suns, colorful cows, mischievous moons, and Indian gods that has been translated into books, scarves and handbags.
Her Bollyworld anime like heroines, Bolly and Sheena, are brought to life with song and stories that have been translated into graphic fabrics and prints, where each whimsical bag tells a different story and embodies the colorful nature of these characters.
“Bollydoll is a story about realizing your potential in the world by mastering your uniqueness and talents,” says Sen. “I express my creativity in so many forms, music, art, and fashion. For me, the Bollydoll Collection is taking all those influences, combining them in a unique way to create something very beautiful.”
