The Central Park Five – riveting documentary film

Just watched “The Central Park Five”, a documentary film about the Central Park Jogger case, directed by Ken Burns, Sarah Burns, and David McMahon. After premiering at Cannes last year, it was released in the US on November 23, 2012. I remember the trial but I barely heard about their innocence.

Antron McCray, Kevin Richardson, Yusef Salaam, Raymond Santana and Kharey Wise — the Central Park Five — were all convicted and served prison sentences ranging from six to 13 years.

But in 2002, a serial rapist and murderer named Matias Reyes confessed he alone had raped the jogger — and DNA evidence backed him up.

They were definitely up to no good that night. They had been part of a larger group that had thrown rocks at cars, beaten up a male jogger and accosted a homeless alcoholic in the park that night.

But they had not raped the Central Park jogger. Learn to stay away from trouble because trouble just might find you! They lost their entire young adult lives.

You can now watch it on PBS. See the times here http://www.pbs.org/kenburns/centralparkfive/
