The Federal Trade Commission is probing a growing number of mobile apps that may violate users’ privacy, Bloomberg reports.
The investigation could affect Google Inc. (NASDAQ: GOOG), Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) and an array of software developers, who may face fines and new rules.
The companies are also receiving scrutiny from California Attorney General Kamala Harris, as well as members of Congress who are planning legislation to boost privacy protection.
