Cupid takes over IndianDating.com

Online dating company Cupid has taken over IndianDating.com and several related domains for $200,000.

IndianDating.com’s activity is mainly focussed on the Indian community in North America.

The sites being purchased have approximately 600,000 dating and matrimonial site members with the potential for significant expansion.

Cupid says that according to the American Community Survey of the US Census Bureau, the Asian Indian population in the US was 2,570,000 in 2007 and had grown at 53% since 2000 – the highest for any Asian American community, and among the fastest growing ethnic groups in the country.

The sites will continue to offer the same service but will be moved over to the Cupid plc platform.

The sites’ former owner will provide ongoing consultancy to Cupid for several months.

Cupid CEO Bill Dobbie said: “We are very pleased to add IndianDating.com to our growing portfolio of dating websites.

“As a niche site, the domain fits in very well with our existing portfolio and the acquisition represents our increasing presence in the North American market and growing international focus.”
