Wonder Girls continues to make its presence felt in the US music market.
Just recently, the girl’s song “Nobody” topped Billboard’s Year-End Hot Singles Sales chart, beating big stars like Mariah Carey, Lady Gaga, Jay-Z, Rihanna, Kanye West, and Beyonce, among others.
Behind “Nobody” are “Pretty Wings” by Maxwell; “Obsessed” by Carey; “Big City Dreams” by Never Shout Never; “Stanky Legg” by GS Boyz; “Run this Town” by Jay-Z, Rihanna, and Kanye West; “We Fly” by AG feat. Bizzy Bones and Alex Duncan; “Just Dance” by Lady Gaga; “She Wolf” by Shakira; and “Halo” by Beyonce.
The Wonder Girls launched their US career last year by making an English version of “Nobody.”
Although the song only peaked at No. 76 on the Billboard Hot 100 when it was released in October last year, this made the Wonder Girls the first-ever Korean pop act to enter the Hot 100 chart.
To support the release, the group went to front for the Jonas Brothers in their concert tour in the US last year.
In December, the Wonder Girls was chosen as one of the “100 things to watch in 2010” by advertising giant JWT (formerly J. Walter Thompson).
The Wonder Girls, composed of Sohee, Sunye, Ye-eun, Sunmi, and Yubin, is set to launch their first English album in February.
