Great makeup application begins with great skin!
Being the sensational makeup artist that Motoko is, she knows a thing or two about perfecting skin in order to have the perfect canvas. Below, Motoko answers some skincare questions from some of Asiance’s readers.
FROM TIFFANY:
Dear Motoko, I noticed some celebrities, like (?) that look like they have no makeup on, but they don’t look tired, they look healthy. How can I do that? I have light skin, dark hair & brown eyes. Thanks!
Hi Tiffany,
Wouldn’t it be nice not to look tired without makeup everyday. Well, I think they must have facial treatments regularly and keep their skin healthy. Moreover, they know how to do super-natural makeup; super-natural means looking like you’re wearing almost no-makeup at all. All you have to do is apply sunscreen lotion, light concealer under the
eyes (if you think you need it), cream or powder blush on your cheek (if your face is pale with no natural cheek color), light mascara (if your lashes are thin and lack volume), and lip balm or clear gloss.
In addition, you may use loose powder on your forehead, side of nose, and chin by one stroke brushing motion.
The most important thing is that what you eat is what you end up with on your face. Take well-balanced meals and drink lots of water. Avoid excessive caffeine and get enough sleep. I know it’s easier said than done, but please try to do your best!
FROM LYA:
Hi, I had a question about how I can get a smooth and glowing skin and get out of my unhealthy skin with a good amount of acne marks on my face? Thank you.,
Hi Lya,
I guess you might have to apply a thick foundation and powder to hide uneven skin conditions. Also, you might use a silicon base primer to smooth out the surface.
However, the makeup is a temporary means. It does not give a natural glow. Mentally & physically, I think professional treatments give you good satisfaction. Mainly, there are three methods, “DERMABRASION”, “CHEMICAL PEELING” and “LYMPH DRAINAGE” to eliminate rough skin.
Dermabrasion
is the removal of damaged skin by mechanical means like crystal sand stone (more common) or revolving wire brushes, which helps to promote a rebuilding of the skin and restore it to a healthier condition.
Chemical peeling
is also the removal of outer (the epidermis) and inner layers (the dermis) by applying glycolic acid, cojic acid & salicylic acid on your face for 2~3 minutes to burn your uneven skin.
Usually, a dermatologist can give you a glycolic acid or AHA (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) strong enough to cause a peeling. On the other hand, estheticians are using these caustic substances at a weaker strength (normally 30%) than dermatologists (50% and up), and it tends to cause exfoliation rather than peeling. The treatment by estheticians is more
moderate and mild than those of dermatologists, but still able to get good results. Both treatments are done 6 ~ 8 times in series (depending on skin conditions).
Lymph Drainage
is used to enhance the movement of lymph and tissue fluids by massage on the face and neck. It is done manually or by machine to promote the normal, healthy functioning of the lymphatic system and give good blood circulation to the skin (epidermis & dermis) and also get rid of waste materials out of the body.
I would recommend that you visit a good esthetician first, and get a consultation. I hope you will have nice, smooth, and glowing skin soon.
