Korean-American Teen Jazz Sensation Grace Kelly

Grace Kelly is only fifteen years old and is a rising star in the American and international jazz scenes. Ms. Kelly is a saxophonist, composer, and vocalist with three of her own recordings, two of which have won her a total of five Downbeat magazine student music awards in 2006 and 2007, including Outstanding Jazz Soloist (Alto Saxophone), Outstanding Pop/Rock/Blues Soloist, Outstanding Original Composition (“Fast Metabolism”), Outstanding Performance (Jazz Vocalist), and Outstanding Arrangement (“Summertime”).

She has also recently been awarded the ASCAP Foundation 2007 Young Jazz Composers Award for the title track of her third recording, “Every Road I Walked.” Ms. Kelly frequently tours in the Boston, New York City, and Washington, D.C. areas and has performed in such notable venues as Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, Birdland, Symphony Hall (with the Boston Pops under Keith Lockhart), and many others, and as far away as Trumso, Norway.

As an Asian-American female instrumentalist in a musical calling where Asians (and females) are a decided minority, Ms. Kelly has demonstrated and continues to demonstrate a high level of commitment to promoting and supporting Asian and Asian-American communities.
