Rekha Sharma stars in new series of Battlestar Galactica

Rekha Sharma is a Canadian film, stage and television actor. Born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Rekha’s ancestors relocated from the state of Uttar Pradesh in India after the British occupation of the country, and settled in the Fiji Islands. Her parents moved to Canada where she was born and raised with her elder brother.

Rekha’s career to date includes performances in the feature films Whisper (2007), Memory (2006), Fierce People (2005), Edison (2005), The Chronicles of Riddick (2004) and The Core (2003). Rekha has also just finished filming Traveling (2008) working alongside Hollywood’s big names Jennifer Aniston, Aaron Eckhart and Martin Sheen.

Rekha’s television career includes recurring roles in Dark Angel, John Doe, Smallville, Da Vinci’s City Hall and most recently in the new series of Battlestar Galactica as Tory Foster, aide to the President. Rekha's most prestigious accolade was winning the Peabody award in 2006.

Rekha is proud of her Indian heritage and is passionate about changing the way western society view Indian people. She is also a supporter of numerous charities including tsunami victims, housing for widows and other outcast women in India and local women dealing with spousal and sexual violence.

When not onstage, Rekha practices yoga, meditation, Pilates and enjoys painting and playing Sarangi (an Indian classical instrument). Her passion for the arts, music, theatre and modern dance is portrayed through her love of acting and inspiring performances.
