The Fortune Cookie Chronicles author Jennifer 8. Lee

Last night we had the chance to meet Jennifer 8. Lee of the New York Times and author of The Fortune Cookie Chronicles. Thanks to the Asia Society! Jennifer's book project took her through China where she chronicled unique accounts of cultures and cuisines which examined Chinese and Western approaches to food and to each other. Lee's adventure took her to the town of General Tso and the true inventors of the fortune cookie (It's not China!).

There are more Chinese restaurants in America than McDonalds, Burger Kings, and Wendys combined. Jennifer 8. Lee takes readers on a remarkable journey that is both foreign and familiar: penetrating this subculture by traveling the world (and almost every American state) in her quest to understand Chinese food and the people who make it. Lee offers restaurant reviews, clarifies culinary myths and combines substantial research into an American and Chinese cooking pot.

We're on a roll with Asian inspired book deals… More to come.
