Motoko on how to make your own foundation

Makeup ingredients

Hi Motoko
I’ve been interested in making my own organic foundation. Do you have any suggestions on the best ingredients I could use? (just to give it a smoother feel, and ingredients that would make it healing to the skin) Also for coloring it, I’ve just been using iron oxides and zinc oxide, is there any other option that’s better for the skin?

Hi,
It is great that you are going to make your own organic foundation.
I can recommend the following organic herb plants;
* Chamomile for calming, soothing and softening (reduce swelling & relieves dry sensitive skin)
* Peppermint/Mint for cooling, soothing and mild antiseptic,

* Lavender for calming and regenerating

In addition, You can have all of the above plants at home.

Titanium Dioxide is one of the common ingredients in foundation and sunscreen lotions, but it is said that Titanium Dioxide has been classified as “Possibly carcinogenic”, causing the cells to become cancerous. So stay with iron oxides and zinc oxide for coloring.

To make a loose color powder foundation, add Corn Starch or Tapioca Starch. For liquid foundation, add Organic Jojoba Extract Oil, glycerine, liquid Emulsion and purified water (aroma water).

You can also add Vitamin A (example: Retinyl palmitate), Vitamin C (ex:Asorbyl palmitate), Vitamin E (ex:Tocopheryl acetate).

This is up to you but you may add Tee Tree, Grapefruit extract, Rosemary extract for preservation.

I hope you can make the original foundation with matching color of your skin.

Enjoy the process of your creativity.

  • Hey Motoko!
I have a problem.. Whenever I line my eyes with dark eyeliners (such as black or dark brown), it looks like my eyes have closed up even more! I have the crease, but it’s rather small. Am I doing something wrong?

    Thanks! Laura.

I stumbled over your magazine in searching for some clues at how to make my own line of foundation. I got as far as finding raw materials retailers. I think i need some more help in finding how to make foundation, if you can assist me in that regard that would be beyond helppful.

    Thank You
