One World, One Dream

After 17 days of intense competition, the 2008 Beijing Olympics comes to a close with an extravagant ceremony directed again by Zhang Yimou. The closing extravaganza opened at 8:00 p.m. with more than 90,000 audience members packing the stadium counting down from the number of “29”, indicating the 29th Olympic Games. The China Olympics, with the theme “One World, One Dream” had more than 10,500 athletes from a record 204 national delegations that participated. The United States won the most medals 110(36 gold medals, 38 silver and 36 bronze) with China winning the most Gold 100(51 gold medals, 21 Silver, 28 bronze). The Chinese women gymnasts have all been clear. Apparently, The International Olympic Committee is satisfied with the documentation provided by the Chinese government. In total, about 100,000 Olympic volunteers were working day and night, helping athletes, officials, reporters, spectators and tourists in Beijing and the six co-host cities.
