National Asian American Student Conference Recap
The National Asian American Student Conference, which Asiance sponsored, was held at Emory University on October 17-19th. The Conference was presented by NAASCon (National Asian American Student Conference) and Emory's Students in Alliance for Asian American Concerns (SAAAC). Over 160 delegates representing 26 schools from all over the United States attended the gathering. Students were able to attend workshops on Campus and Community Organizing where they learned to effectively create change on campus and the surrounding communities; Immigration, Race and Rights where students learned the impacts of legislation on the APA community and the past and current struggles for citizenship; and Arts, Technology and Media for Social Change where students were encouraged to find creative ways of expression in to to educate and develop social and political consciousness through the arts; among MANY others. The next NAASCon conference will be in 2010!
