Panel Discussion on Domestic Violence

In keep with Domestic Violence Awareness Month, there will be a panel discussion on domestic violence as it relates to the success and challenges of awareness, intervention and prevention of domestic violence in immigrant communities. The discussion is combined with an exhibit titled LIVING PORTRAIT, an interactive audio-visual installation that gives voice to the remarkable women in the Asian immigrant communities who are working each day to break the cycle of domestic violence. It's a collaboration between composer Woody Pak and new media artists Heather Greer and Liubo Borissov. The artists worked with members of The New York Asian Women's Center to create an installation that would honor these women and inspire visitors to become involved in the fight against domestic violence. The project was funded by private donors and through a grant from The Asian Women Giving Circle. Special thanks to the courageous women who participated in this project and those who have helped to make the vision of this exhibit a reality: The Project Committee, Younghee Kim-Wait, Suok and Brigette Noh, and Lulu C. Wang.
