Youtube’s Steve Chen honored at Inaugural Gala
Tonight we covered the Museum of Chinese in America's Inaugural Gala Dinner which honored eight Chinese Americans who have made positive contributions to the Chinese American community. Architect I.M. Pei received the Museum's “Lifetime Achievement Award”. Six individual “Legacy Awards” were presented. They were given to Steve Chen, Youtube Co-Founder; Jon Christianson, Partner of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher and Flom LLP; Wei Christianson, CEO of Morgan Stanley China; T.C. Hsu, former President of The Starr Foundation; Ang Lee, Academy Award-winning Director; and Christine A. Poon, Vice Chair of Johnson and Johnson. One institutional “Legacy Award” was presented to the Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association, the oldest community organization in New York City's Chinatown. Vera Wang, artist Maya Lin and playwright David Henry Hwang, recipients of pas “Legacy Awards”, were presenters while Lisa Ling and newscaster Cindy Hsu emceed the evening. Over $900,000.00 was raised from the gala. Pictures to come.
