Canadian actor Jennifer Spence returns to the multiple award winning MGM Syfy television series ‘SGU-Stargate Universe’, as the brainy and secretly libidinous scientist Dr. Lisa Park on the series’ second season, now airing.
Jennifer’s popular character on ‘SGU- Stargate Universe’ is Dr. Lisa Park, the chatty and quick female Tau’ri scientist who participated in the Stargate program and the Icarus project. She more than holds her own amongst the team of mostly male scientists and has helped out in several many scientific discoveries since her character’s arrival onboard Destiny. How does Dr. Park deal with relieving her stress from living on the ship? She shares in intimate encounters with several of the fellow crew!
2010 has been a big year for the cast and crew of SGU Stargate Universe as it has been nominated for an impressive nine Gemini Awards and for as well as two Emmy Awards. Jennifer was nominated for a Leo Award for Best Supporting Performance by a Female in a Dramatic Series for her role on ‘Stargate Universe’. She has also received major recognition for her recurring role on the 2nd second season of the GLAAD Media Award nominated Showcase comedy ‘Exes & Ohs’. Jennifer plays the wise-cracking, bisexual barista Devin Cheng, who is the newest addition to this group of friends. She often ends up using her genius computer skills to bail them out of various predicaments in this hilarious series about lesbian lifeJennifer has a formidable list of television and film credits to her name including principle roles on ‘Tru Calling’, ‘Reunion’, ‘Touching Evil’, and the Lifetime MOW ‘Write & Wrong’ (Kirstie Alley). Recurring roles include ‘The 4400’, ‘Killer Instinct’ and ‘DaVinci’s Inquest’. She has had guest starring roles on ‘Eureka’, ‘Northern Town’ and ‘Huff’ (Hank Azaria) and played Gwen Stathis in the Lifetime MOW, ‘A Decent Proposal’.
Her film credits include ‘Catch & Release’ (Jennifer Garner, Juliette Lewis), ‘The Core’ (Stanley Tucci, Hilary Swank) and the short film ‘Blind Spot’ by director Christy Garland.
Born and raised in Toronto, the acting bug hit Jennifer at the early age of seven while performing as an orphan in a summer camp production of ‘Annie’ belting out ‘It’s a Hard Knock Life’. She made the decision to commit herself to the performing arts world and went on to study at the prestigious National Theatre School of Canada in Montreal.
Fans of Jennifer’s often ask what her background is being that she has such a unique and exotic look. Her father is British and her mother is a third generation Japanese Canadian.
The second season of ‘SGU-Stargate Universe’ airs on Syfy on Tuesdays at 9/8c and will also premiere in Canada on Space. ‘Exes and Ohs’ started re-airing September 1st on Superchannel on Wednesdays at 7:30pm PST.
