Haiping Xie Makes London Debut To Much Fanfare

Chinese designer, Haiping Xie, took part in Vauxhall Fashion Scout’s Fashion Shenzhen event during London Fashion Week and triumphed his London debut.

Xie’s showed luxurious pieces with a couture spirit, interpreting traditional Chinese prints with a modern edge. The impeccably tailored garments made reference to the golden age of Chinese craftsmanship before the Revolution. The models were accompanied down the runway with Chinese classical music, a nod to the country’s imperial past.

The color palette was as regal as the collection with black, gold, red and yellow dominating. Xie juxtaposed mini dresses with floor-grazing trains, fitted dresses with billowing hemlines and gigantic halter-necks attached to slim-cut dresses. All of the dresses were regal in their own right.

Phoenix News television reporter, Celia Li, found the collection engaging and found Xie’s blend of the different cultures sophisticated and tasteful.

“I loved the show a lot. I think he mixed the East with the West spectacularly,” said Li. “They have a royal feeling to his designs.”

Xie is already a renowned designer in his native China. This marks his debut in London and already, many buyers have expressed interest. This show was a part of Vauxhall Fashion Scout’s Fashion Shenzhen event that gives Chinese designers a platform to introduce their work to an international audience at one of fashion’s most talked about events.
