Wie’s back injury could keep her out of LPGA

A bulging disc in her back and two cysts on her spine, deemed not serious, have Michelle Wie a probable no-show at the 2010 LPGA Tour Championship in Orlando, Florida at the Grand Cypress Golf Club starting December 2nd.

While her representatives do give Wie and her team some room by saying “things could change”, her class schedule at Stanford and her commitment to play at the Ladies European Tour’s Dubai Ladies Masters, starting December 9th, immediately following the LPGA Tour Championship most likely portends that Wie will probably next tee it up in competition at the Emirates Golf Club in Dubai.

The defending champions are Sweden’s Anna Nordqvist at the LPGA Tour Championship and Korea’s In-Kyung Kim at the Dubai Ladies Masters. Wie’s back problems forced her to withdraw from the 2010 Lorena Ochoa Invitational, unable to defend her first LPGA Tour title, won at the 2009 event in Guadalaja, Mexico.
