Every woman wants to look her best. But most especially, she wants to be lovely on her special day, her wedding.
It does not take a magician or a facelift to get that much-wanted glow. One just has to know what to do and where to go.
As a cosmetic doctor, I usually get asked the question “Why do all my celebrity-clients look so young and beautiful, with glowing skin?”
Truth of the matter is, people nowadays, not just the stars, are more conscious about their appearance and they find time to take care of their skin and bodies. One of my clients, for instance, is 47 years old but looks like she’s only 30 years old. Credit that to her daily swimming routine, diet and regular visits to the Belo clinic.
It’s really not that hard to achieve good skin and a great body. It’s not necessarily all that expensive either. All it takes is determination, effort and dedication to looking the best you can possibly be.
I am sharing some beauty secrets with you to prepare for your big day. Here they are:
Get fit and pampered. Don’t you sometimes wish that all you had to do was lie down and wake up feeling a little slimmer?
Try the different, non-invasive body contouring procedures that can melt or zap the fat away. Couple a few sessions with the right diet and exercise and you’ll soon be sporting a body truly worthy of that bridal gown. There are also various kinds of facials that can give you a fresher look before saying “I do.”
Detox. Ridding the body of toxins will naturally result in a better physical state. Supplements like glutathione (available in tablet form or as an intravenous treatment) will not only eliminate toxins, but also lighten and brighten your appearance.
You may also want to undergo lymphatic drainage, a short treatment that improves lymphatic circulation and helps remove toxins that cause acne breakouts, yellowish skin and even the dark circles around the eyes.
All about the eyes. Eyes aren’t just the windows to your soul. They’re also a good indicator of your age. Sagging eyelids are dead giveaways, as well as crow’s feet. While there are numerous treatments available for the eye area (such as Botox, laser blepharoplasty and Thermage) you can forgo those. My advice is to use some eye cream on a regular basis.
The skin around the eyes is very thin and prone to early wrinkles, puffiness and dark circles. Daily application of an eye cream on these areas can work wonders. My suggestion? Cernor K, which contains both vitamin K and retinol and is available on the market today.
Restore youthful and natural volume with Restylane, Perlane and Radiesse, injectable dermal fillers to smooth away moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as the lines from the nose to the corners of your mouth.
Botox. Eliminate frown lines, forehead creases, crows feet near the eyes and thick bands in the neck with Botox, a popular non-surgical injection that temporarily paralyzes the muscles that cause wrinkles while giving the skin a smoother, more refreshed appearance. Botox is painless and can also be used for facial reshaping in the jaw area and in the armpit to prevent excessive sweating.
Stay away from the sun. You do not want to see pigmentations of uneven skin tone once you get to tie the knot. The use of sunblock is of utmost importance. Sure, the sun exposure you experience today may not appear tomorrow, but as you mature, sun damage becomes more evident. When wearing sunblock, make sure you reapply it every two hours to get the best protection for your skin.
Fraxel. Rejuvenate sun-damaged skin with Fraxel, a non-surgical procedure that smoothes out wrinkles, erases acne scars and brown spots, treats melasma and stimulates the production of smoother, healthier looking skin, with minimal down time.
Be hair-free. Laser hair removal is now widely practiced and generally accepted in the dermatology community. Both men and women avail of this now popular procedure done on the underarm, pubic area, bikini lines, thighs, face, neck, chest, arms, legs and back.
Have a sound mind, body and spirit. Outward beauty usually reflects beauty from within. My personal practice is to pray and meditate for around half an hour every morning to start my day right. Commune with nature. Be at peace with yourself. Have a positive attitude. Get rid of all the negative vibes.
This is your special day. You deserve to be beautiful!
