Christian Bale plays, Dicky Eklund, a former boxing hero that squandered his talents and threw away his shot at greatness. Mark Wahlberg plays, Micky Ward, the struggling journeyman boxer who spent his life living in his big brother’s shadow. The Fighter is inspired by the true story of two brothers, who against all odds, come together to train for a historic title bout that will unite their fractured family, redeem their pasts, and give their hard-luck town what it’s been waiting for: Pride.

Both actors studied Manny Pacquiao and his world class trainer, Freddie Roach, in order to prepare for the role. Manny is such a living legend and a phenomenon. I’m so glad we’re able to experience this.

The Fighter is coming to theaters Dec 10 (select cities) / Dec 17 (nationwide) and is already generating Oscar buzz. Could Christian finally win the Oscar he deserves?
