Pole Dance/Fitness, A Popular Form of Play

Remember Sheila Kelley and the S Factor? Pole dancing is no longer a taboo exclusive to exotic dancers. The instructors are well-rounded individuals from engineers to graduate students. Just as well, women of all ages and backgrounds are seeking this fun alternative, whether to branch out from a traditional workout or to fulfill artistic expression. Choosing from a selection of pole dancing, chair play, and Coyote Ugly, women get an intense workout consisting of dance sequences, squats, and ab exercises. Pole Dance requires alot of upper body strength and it is no joke! You see women defying gravity in ways you never thought possible.

This radically wild workout combines ballet, yoga and striptease to nurture a woman’s natural S shape, promoting health, confidence and empowerment for all ages and body types. Although the more weight you carry, the harder it is. Remember, you are defying gravity. They teach you the “cat” move like Catherine Zeta Jones in the movie Entrapment. Remember that scene when she goes under the wire?

I take lessons at S Factor which has been featured on Oprah, The Martha Stewart Show, 20/20, 48 Hours, etc. I had my initial “baptism” into the pole fitness industry by attending a the bachelorette party of a dear friend. I had the time of my life and got hooked. That is when I decided to join the S Factor. I think they could really use one in Upper Westchester and Southern Connecticut! After a summer of sailing and swimming, the scenery in those parts left much to be desired! It must be a mommy thing.
