Shanghai students outperform US students – Rhee weighs in

It’s troubling news, students in Shanghai are “blowing away” their American counterparts. Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa is calling for education reform! Former D.C. Schools Chancellor Michelle Rhee weighs in on the problematic system. One major problem: Tenure – The systems of public school teachers receive a job for life, regardless of performance. Ms. Rhee started Studentsfirst.org which states:

“To truly transform education in America, to create a system that puts students’ needs first, we need parents, teachers, administrators, politicians, and citizens from across the country to come together, recognize the problems in our system, and have the guts to overcome them.”

She is 100% right! All unions are bad news in my opinion because they allow the members to slack off, receive extremely generous pensions for poor work performance and prevent members from striving to reach their utmost potential.

Like I stated before, all of my (MRS in Waiting) friends who are lazy and not too bright became teachers. The stability factor promotes lack of motivation. If you don’t have to worry about being fired and you know that if you perform only what is required and nothing more that you will receive full benefits and a full pension–why bother doing anything more? Unfortunately, that is the attitude that we are dealing with.

PS Could Martha’s hair be any blonder and brighter? It was a bit of a distraction and irritating on the eyes. Warm it up a little. Sometimes I wonder if at Fox News they have a contest “Who is the blondest of them all?” Is this an attempt to OUTSHINE my friend Megyn Kelly? I wonder.
