Perfect timing for our Wedding Issue! Attorney Kaylynn Kim will step down

Perfect timing for our Wedding Issue!

Attorney Kaylynn Kim will step down at the end of this month from the Los Angeles Board of Harbor Commissioners to plan her upcoming wedding and spend more time with her future husband.

Kim was appointed in 2005, becoming the first Asian-American woman to serve on the five-member civilian panel that oversees the Port of Los Angeles.

“If I look back at who I was six years ago compared to who I am now, I feel like I’ve grown so much,” Kim said. “Actually, I feel like I’ve aged so much, which means I’ve matured.”

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa has until Aug. 15 to name a replacement, who must be confirmed by the City Council.

Kim, a resident of the San Fernando Valley, is managing partner of Terra Imperium Capital Partners, a renewable energy consulting firm. She was nominated to the harbor commission shortly after serving on Villaraigosa’s transition team in the weeks following his election victory in 2005.
