Asian Art makes impact in Art world

ART ASIA Miami 2010, the premier international Asian contemporary art fair, concluded its third year with strong sales and VIP attendance. Back to its original location in Midtown, Miami, ART ASIA attracted over 30,000 visitors during its six day run. Showcasing artists from China, Hong Kong, India, Iran, Japan, Korea, Lebanon, Malaysia, Pakistan, The Philippines, Russia, Syria, Taiwan, Thailand, Tunisia, and Turkey- Galleries reported sales to top collectors from the United States and Asia, including strong attendance from Saudi Arabia, Taipei, Dubai, Beijing, and India.

Kashya Hildebrand of Galerie Kashya Hildebrand remarked, “The venue, location, and quality of collectors that came to this fair were excellent.” At ART ASIA Miami 2010, galleries curated special projects including Traverse by Meeson Pae Yang, Staging Identity: Performance and Irony in Contemporary Iranian Photography, The Contemporary Arabesque, Ecstasy by Lin Xin, Imitation Pop and Contemporary Ukiyo-e Pop in 3-D by Ushio Shinohara, Liu Xiaodong’s Hometown Memory Series, New Chinese Painting: Hot and Spicy, and Domus Vulgus by Apnavi Thacker.

ART ASIA Miami will return to Miami for its fourth edition in 2011 with plans to expand with a greater emphasis on galleries from the Middle East and Southeast Asia in an effort to fully represent the diversity of cultures and countries in Asian contemporary art. The fair will be held from November 30 to December 4, 2011 with a Vernissage on November 29.
