The Special Olympics World Summer Games 2011 will take place between June 25 and July 4 in Athens, home to the first Olympic games. A familiar face to fans of the Winter Olympic Games has been named as an ambassador to the global event.

Olympic medal winner and five-time world figure skating champion Michelle Kwan is the Special Olympics ambassador and the organization has partnered with Hilton Worldwide in an effort to encourage Hilton HHonors reward program members to donate their earned points toward the Special Olympics.
