Golf: Taiwan’s Tseng leads in storm-hit Australia
Defending champion Yani Tseng of Taiwan and South Korea’s world number one Jiyai Shin are set for a showdown over the final 36 holes of the Women’s Australian Open at the Commonwealth Golf Club. The 22-year-old Asian superstars will go head-to-head at the weekend in Melbourne after Tseng added a second round 67 to an opening 70 to reach nine under par on 137.
Shin, joint leader after the first round, was two shots back at seven under par through 33 holes, after being forced to leave the course when a severe storm hit late Friday. Shin will complete her second round early Saturday before going out again for her third round.
Also in contention at seven under was another of the Koreans, Ji Eun-Hee (69-70), while American Jennifer Song (67-73) was in fourth spot a shot further back. Tseng, who moved up to number five in the world rankings after winning two major titles in 2010, was out early on Friday and rattled off six birdies without blemish.
The expected afternoon challenge from Shin began immediately with birdie putts on the opening two greens to reach eight under and threaten to run away with the tournament.

These ladies are incredible to watch! If you haven’t had the chance to see them play you must. They are raising the bar on the game of golf! The competition has never been more fierce. I have been a fan of Golf for many years and I have to tell you that being in the game now is much more difficult than it was several years ago for these pros. Unfortunately, alot of American pro golfers are failing to make the cut because they cannot compete on this level.
My favorite all-time golfers were and still are Bobby Jones, Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods, Paula Creamer, and Michelle Wie to name but a few.
