Rain seems to be facing problems right before he enlists in the Korean army later this year.
This time, the Asian pop star is being reinvestigated on allegations that he embezzled funds of his own company.
The Seoul Central District Prosecutor’s Office has revived its probe on Rain supposedly getting 2 billion won (about P79.5 million) as modeling fee from J. Tune Creative of which he is the largest shareholder.
This is a reverse of a decision of the prosecutor’s office last December which cleared Rain of any misuse of funds in the company.
However, an appeal was filed by an investor of the company and the Supreme Prosecutor’s Office granted it.
The reinvestigation will focus on Rain’s modeling fee, which the investors said was too excessive and which the singer did not fulfill.
In addition, prosecutors will also look into J. Tune Creative’s finances to shed light on charges that company funds were used to pay for Rain’s office rental and personal transportation.
Last month, Rain was accused of plagiarizing his song “Busan Woman” from Grammy winner Raphael Saadiq’s “Detroit Girl.” He released the single on Aug. 16 as a gift to his fans before he enlists in the army.
Rain is set to hold the finale of his “2011 Rain Tour: The Best Show” concert on Sept. 24 and 25 at the Seoul Olympic Park Stadium.
