The family of a slain Yale graduate student has filed a lawsuit against the university.

Annie Le’s family argues that “sexual attacks on and harassment of women at Yale had been a well-documented and long-standing problem and there was a widespread belief that Yale repeatedly failed to impose meaningful discipline on offenders,” according to the Hartford Courant.

Le was a doctoral pharmacology student who worked on a team that experimented on mice as part of research into enzymes that could have implications for treatment of cancer, diabetes and muscular dystrophy.

The 24-year-old’s body was found stuffed behind a wall at a Yale lab on Sept. 13, 2009, what was to be her wedding day. Former animal research technician Raymond Clark III was sentenced to 44 years in prison for her killing.
