Isabella Leong’s former lover tycoon Richard Li breaks silence on split

“There have recently been a few reports circulating about me and Isabella, which implicated different third parties. The names implicated belong to women I have never met. The contents of the report are made up and completely untrue,” said Li in his statement. “The reports regarding a ‘separation fee’ of hundreds of millions are pure fabrications which went out of its way to link our relationship with money. The intention of the reports are unfathomable.

“I will not respond to outrageous and untrue reports. I sincerely request that the media show restraint, objectivity and fairness in their professional conduct. To protect the feelings of all members of my family, if there is a need for legal action, I will not hesitate,” wrote the 44-year-old tycoon. He went on to describe the breakup as a “painful private matter” in his statement and asked the public to understand and respect that. Li also expressed that the three sons he had with Leong will be well taken care of. “We will try hard to take care of our three sons and seek out the best environment for them to grow up in,” wrote Li in his statement.

Leong reportedly met Li, son of one of Asia’s richest men Li Kah Shing, through her co-star Michelle Yeoh while working on “Mummy: The Tomb of the Dragon Emperor” in 2008. Her separation from Li came at a time when many people believed she would soon officially become his wife, after she bore him a son Ethan in Canada in April 2009, then a set of twin sons born in San Francisco last June. Leong’s manager Lu Mi Xue, who confirmed their separation on Sunday also denounced the “untrue reports” and re-iterated that there was no “third party” involved when she responded to further media queries on Tuesday.
