Jang Ja-yeon’s death may be re-investigated after sordid letters
South Korean actress Jang Ja-Yeon killed herself in 2009 after suggesting she had been forced to have sex with influential figures to promote her career. Korean police may re-open her case. This follows reports by a Korean broadcaster on Sunday of letters which it claimed were written by Jang. The series of 50 letters clearly recount sordid details of how the actress was made by her management company to provide sexual favours to some 30 people, including leaders of private companies and media executives, on over a hundred separate occasions.
The letters, which spanned 230 pages were reportedly sent to Jang’s acquaintance before her death. “We are currently examining the letters to determine their authenticity. Her relationship with her acquaintance will also be subject to a probe,” said a police officer who handled the same case two years ago.
In one poignant letter, Jang, who appeared in the immensely popular drama “Boys Over Flowers”, alleged that she was forced to sleep with people even on her parent’s death anniversary, a sacred day for Koreans. Jang went on to describe the people who controlled her as “devils” and vowed to “become a fierce spirit after I die to take revenge”.
A tribute for Jang Ja Yeon
It is always shocking when a young and beautiful actress who seemingly has it all, commits suicide!
This is so incredibly disturbing! No industry is worth having to undergo any type of abuse whether it be starving yourself for modeling or granting sexual favors for acting roles.
