Jesse Eisenberg, the Oscar-nominated star of The Social Network, made his professional New York debut as a playwright last night with an Off Broadway production of “Asuncion”, starring Camille Mana!

The play centers on two friends who view themselves as open-minded liberals – one blogs about American imperialism; the other is finishing a PhD in Black Studies – and how those self-perceptions are challenged when a young Filipina woman becomes their new roommate.

The cast includes Mr. Eisenberg, Remy Auberjonois (The Country Girl, Frost/Nixon), Justin Bartha (Lend Me A Tenor, The Hangover 1 & 2) and Camille Mana (Smart People, “One on One”), making her Off-Broadway debut in the title role.

ASUNCION is already sold out through the first week of previews. The official opening is Thursday, October 27th.
