“To prevent everyone from overworking themselves, I confirm through my management company: My girlfriend Sammie Yu is indeed pregnant,” said Cheng in a statement released through Gold Typhoon. “Hopefully, after I have confirmed this, the various media will understand and give myself, Sammie Yu and our families some private space. “In the future, I will definitely arrange for friends in the media to share our joy in greater detail. Thank you for your concern,” Cheng said. Cheng’s statement did not give any indication that he would marry Yu.
21-year-old Yu is Cheng’s latest girlfriend after the 38-year-old actor divorced actress Charlene Choi, whom he secretly wed in 2006. Cheng’s relationship with Yu came to light after they were photographed going out together last year. Production staff who work with Yu later revealed that the pair had been dating since April, shortly after Cheng tearfully announced his separation from Choi at a press conference in March 2010.
