Scripting Their Way to Success
For Glen Power of The Script, having no goal as a musician is like going into the forest with a bow and arrow blindfolded trying to hit trees. “You need to take the blindfold off, see the tree and go, ‘I want that’, and then climb over everything to get there” said the drummer. Clearly, The Script knew their script, making a name for themselves some three years after getting together.
The three-piece band with Danny O’Donoghue (vocals and keyboard), Glen Power (drummer) and Mark Sheehan (guitar) started out at little clubs as the band slowly made their way to the top. They have even been asked to be the opening acts for performers such as ‘Take That’, Paul McCartney and ‘U2’ (the other famous Irish band that rose from Dublin) on top of having their own tours.
The Script – Breakeven
The Script “For The First Time”
The band, with around 2 million worldwide sales of their debut album, decided to make a stop at “hot and sticky” Singapore, playing at Fort Canning Park on Tuesday. Constantly in touch with fans online, the lads later tweeted that Singapore had “the loudest crowds (they’ve) played to in a long time… you made us so proud”. “Yes, we are very much in touch with our online activity with our Twitter, MySpace and all that stuff and we saw a lot of activity online from Singapore, all our fans asked us to come here” said Power, of the group’s decision to include Asia after touring Ireland, England and Australia.
THE SCRIPT – WE CRY
Every up and coming rock band has Asia as a must stop on their tour schedule.
