The Fortune Society raises $50,000 hosted by Sonja Sohn

It was a beautiful night and hundreds of young philanthropists came together in support of The Fortune Society, one of the nation’s most respected nonprofit organizations offering services to formerly incarcerated men and women, at the First Annual Spring Soiree on May 3rd 2011 at Jimmy at the JamesHotel on Thompson Street.

Hosted by Fortune’s Junior Committee including event chairs Sonja Sohn, star of “The Wire,” (She is of African and Korean descent) and young philanthropists Luke Weil, Louise Tabbiner and Christopher Wolf, the evening supported a vast array of services that help Fortune’s clients successfully re-enter their communities after serving time in prisons and jail.

Attendees included Sports Illustrated model Julie Henderson, Publisher and Vice President of Vanity Fair Edward Menicheschi, Actress Meredith Ostrom, Actress and model Silje Vallevik, Vogue editor Valerie Boster, Vogue contributing writer Lauren Santo Domingo, financier Alejandro Santo Domingo, artist Alex Charriol, gallery director Bettina Prentice, publicist Serena Merriman and Countess Nathalie Von Bismarck. Guests enjoyed cocktails, canapés, and a silent auction. Among the silent auction items were various artworks by respected, well-known local artists, a private round trip flight provided by Avantair and a cruise to Buenos Aires, Argentina.

The event was hosted by Alejandro Santo Domingo, Alexandre Leviant, Alina Kohlem, Andrés and Lauren Santo Domingo, Bo Pittman, Bryna Butler, Cabell Brown, Camilla Olsson, Christopher Wolf, Dalia Oberlander, Countess Nathalie Von Bismarck, Jamie and Bettina Prentice, Julie Henderson, Julian Steinberg, Martin Dawson, Michael Finkelstein, Nick Weil, Ohad Maiman, Olivier Van Temsche, Princess Khaliya Aga Khan, Rachel Rose, Rich Thomas and Tammie Peters Thomas, Ron Belldegrun, Serena Merriman, and Valerie Boster.

In total, the event raised about $50,000.
