Hong Kong veteran actor Andy Lau posted a message Monday on his official site, in which he appeared to acknowledge that he will soon be a father, reported Hong Kong media.

Lau had been quizzed for years about when he will have children, but has consistently brushed off these questions.

However, the 50-year-old actor suddenly posted a message on his official website early Monday morning that suggested his wife, 45-year-old Malaysian Carol Chu, is with child.

Lau, who was just named Best Actor at the Golden Horse Film Awards on Saturday, said in his post that heaven had “heaped joy upon joy” on him and said that “there is ‘good news’ (a Mandarin euphemism for a pregnancy) in my household”.

He added that he wished to share the joy with the people close to him and went on to ask for their blessing.

During the Golden Horse Film Awards, Lau glared at host Eric Tsang when Tsang asked him if he “even knows how to make babies”, referring to how there has been no happy news yet even though he and Chu have been together for decades.
